How to block apps while studying

Before you start studying, shield the apps that pull you away. A scheduled Study Zone or a Deep Focus session keeps them locked until the session ends. Your study tools and essentials stay available.

Set up a study session in FocusPass

  • Deep Focus: choose 25, 45, 60 or 90 minutes. Protected apps stay shielded, and ordinary Passes are paused.
  • Focus Zones: schedule protection for regular study hours, such as weekdays 4–7 PM.
  • Essentials: apps you mark as essential are never shielded.
  • Focus Rescue: a very short, limited exit during Deep Focus for something truly essential.

A study rhythm that works for many people

Try 45 minutes of focus and a 10-minute break, repeated 2–3 times, then a longer break. Use the planner above to make a printable plan that fits your day.

Common questions

How can I block social media while studying?

Start a Deep Focus session or schedule a Study Focus Zone in FocusPass. Social apps stay shielded until it ends.

Is a focus timer enough on its own?

A timer tracks time but doesn't stop you opening apps. Pairing a timer with app shields removes the temptation during the session.

Does the free version include Deep Focus?

Yes. The free version includes one Deep Focus session a day. Pro removes the limit.
