Free app blockers for iPhone
You can block apps on iPhone for free in two ways. Apple's built-in Screen Time sets App Limits and Downtime at no cost. FocusPass is free to download, and its free version shields the apps you pick, shows GO BACK or USE A PASS, gives you timed Passes and relocks apps on its own. FocusPass Pro is optional.
Updated
Interactive demo: tap a protected app, then choose Go Back or Use a Pass and watch the Pass expire and relock. Nothing on your phone is blocked.
Free option 1: Apple Screen Time
Open Settings → Screen Time → App Limits → Add Limit, choose apps or categories and set a daily time. Downtime blocks everything except allowed apps during a schedule. It's free and already on your phone. The catch is Ignore Limit, which extends the limit with one tap.
Free option 2: FocusPass free version
No account and no ads. The free version includes:
- Shields on the apps, categories and websites you choose, with Apple's own picker.
- GO BACK or USE A PASS every time you open a protected app.
- Timed Passes that relock automatically, even if FocusPass is closed.
- One Wallet, one Focus Zone and one Deep Focus session a day.
- 7 days of insights, including Focus Saves.
What FocusPass Pro adds
Pro is an optional subscription for people who want more structure: more Wallets and Focus Zones, custom rules and full history. Prices and the free trial are shown in the app and on the App Store before you subscribe, and you can cancel anytime in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
Common questions
Is there a free app blocker for iPhone?
Yes. Apple's Screen Time is free and built in, and FocusPass is free to download with shields, timed Passes and automatic relocking included in the free version.
What's the difference between Screen Time and a free app blocker?
Screen Time gives each app a daily time budget, with an Ignore Limit button. FocusPass uses the same Apple frameworks but asks GO BACK or USE A PASS on every open, and each Pass ends on its own.
Does the free version of FocusPass expire?
No. The free features stay free. Only FocusPass Pro is a subscription.
Do I need an account?
No. FocusPass has no sign-up. Your rules and history stay on your iPhone.
