Can Apple Watch block apps on your iPhone?

Not by itself. App blocking on iPhone is done by iOS through Screen Time on the iPhone. A Watch app can show your status and start sessions that the iPhone enforces. The FocusPass Watch app shows your Passes left and can start a Focus session; the shielding always happens on your iPhone.

What the FocusPass Watch app does

  • Shows how many Passes you have left today.
  • Starts a Focus session with your favorite length in one tap.
  • Syncs with FocusPass on your iPhone, which applies the shields.

What it doesn't do

It doesn't block apps on the Watch itself, and it can't shield your iPhone without the iPhone app. Open FocusPass on your iPhone once so the Watch can sync.

Other quick controls

You can also start Deep Focus from a Home Screen widget or with Siri and Shortcuts. While a session runs, a Live Activity shows the timer on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.

Common questions

Can I start a focus session from my Apple Watch?

Yes. The FocusPass Watch app can start a Focus session, and your iPhone shields your protected apps for its length.

Does the Watch app work without my iPhone?

No. Blocking happens on the iPhone, so the Watch app needs FocusPass installed and set up on your iPhone.
